Pathways to low-cost clean hydrogen production with gas switching reforming

نویسندگان

چکیده

Gas switching reforming (GSR) is a promising technology for natural gas with inherent CO2 capture. Like conventional steam methane (SMR), GSR can be integrated water-gas shift and pressure swing adsorption units pure hydrogen production. The resulting GSR-H2 process concept was techno-economically assessed in this study. Results showed that achieve 96% capture at avoidance cost of 15 $/ton (including transport storage). Most components the are proven technologies, but long-term oxygen carrier stability presents an important technical uncertainty adversely affect competitiveness when material lifetime drops below one year. Relative to SMR benchmark, replaces some fuel consumption electricity consumption, making it more suitable regions higher prices lower prices. Some minor alterations configuration adjust balance between match local market conditions. most attractive commercialization pathway initial construction without capture, followed by simple retrofitting taxes rise, storage infrastructure becomes available. These features make robust almost any future energy scenario.

Hydrogen Production via Steam Reforming with CO2 Capture

Hydrogen demand in refineries is increasing vigorously due to the stringent transportation fuel specifications, furthermore the interest in the so-called hydrogen economy developed in the recent years put the hydrogen as energy carrier in the centre of a growing interest. More than 95% of the hydrogen for refinery use is nowadays produced via hydrocarbon steam reforming, where Foster Wheeler pl...

Simulating and Optimizing Hydrogen Production by Low-pressure Autothermal Reforming of Natural Gas using Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II

Environmental considerations will probably change automobile fuels from gasoline and gas-oil to hydrogen (as fuel cell) in the future. Problems of fossil fuels include producing gaseous pollutants, such as NOx, CO, and even SO2 (from incomplete-hydrotreated fuels), which need catalytic converters and greenhouse gas emission (such as CO2, CH4, N2O) from the exhaust with a drastic effect on globa...

Low CO content hydrogen production from bio-ethanol using a combined plasma reforming–catalytic water gas shift reactor

Bio-ethanol reforming was studied using a plasma-catalytic reactor for hydrogen production at low temperature and atmospheric pressure without diluent gas or external heating. The plasma applied was a DC pulse discharge (corona) plasma. The water gas shift (WGS) catalyst was put just below the cathode electrode. The discharge generated heat was effectively used for feed vaporization and theWGS ...

Clean Hydrogen Energy and Electric Power Production with CO2 Capturing by Using Coal Gasification

Clean hydrogen is the major energy carrier for power production. The conversion of CO to CO2 and zero emission during hydrogen energy production causes high capital cost. It is a matter of prestige to optimize the process in order to make zero emission and cost effective production of clean hydrogen energy and electric power. In this era, coal gasification is th...

Efficient production of hydrogen from natural gas steam reforming in palladium membrane reactor

Ultra-thin, high performance composite palladium membrane, developed via a novel electroless plating method, was applied to construct a membrane reactor for methane steam reforming reaction, which was investigated under the following working conditions: temperature 723–823 K, pressure 300–900 kPa, gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) 4000–8000 mL g 1 cat h , steam-to-carbon feed ratio (S/C, mol/mol...
